Cody Belanger serves as the Chief Executive Officer of United States Veterans Service Dogs, bringing more than 30 years of experience in dog training across a wide range of disciplines. His passion for canine behavior and training excellence has shaped a career deeply rooted in service, both to animals and to the veterans who depend on them. For the past 15 years, Cody has focused exclusively on the service dog industry, helping transform lives through the pairing of expertly trained service dogs with veterans and individuals with disabilities.
Cody is a certified professional in Service Dog Training through Bergin University of Canine Studies, a premier institution in the field. He also served as a professor in the university’s bachelor’s program for two years, teaching under the mentorship of Dr. Bonnie Bergin, the founder of the university and a pioneer in the development of service dog programs. His hands-on experience as both trainer and educator reflects his commitment to advancing industry standards and best practices.
In addition to his canine credentials, Cody brings strong academic and financial acumen to his leadership role. He holds degrees in Business, Accounting, and Management, and has over 15 years of specialized experience in nonprofit accounting and budgeting. This unique combination of skills allows him to guide the organization with a well-rounded and strategic approach.
As CEO, Cody leads United States Veterans Service Dogs with vision, compassion, and discipline. He is responsible for overseeing daily operations, building sustainable partnerships, and ensuring each veteran-service dog team receives the highest level of care and support. His leadership philosophy is grounded in transparency, empathy, and a relentless drive to serve those who have served our nation.
Cody lives in Folsom, Louisiana, with his wife, their two sons, and four beloved black Labradors who are very much part of the family.
